outshines HK in setup and features for home theater. What you set in Midi is going to be used, and iTunes wont change this setting according to the song played. But reading the earlier comment, it seems that Mac doesnt send the original bit to the DAC.

Is it better than the HK ARV-430? I think it compares very favorably in pure music mode and without question. The plan is MacBook Pro > Topping E30 > VSX 9900S or Denon X1400H > My old Wharfedale 9.6 or Yamaha Soavo. The Onkyo has a great setup for home theater and also sounds smoother in a pure music environment than the Yamaha. In the meantime, I decided to try an Onkyo TX-SR702. I wish it had support for Amazon Music, but. I really enjoy streaming music and this does the job admirably. I'd really like to go with the HK AVR-435 once it's available. I bought this receiver for its WiFi capabilities. This has evidently been provided by Yamaha to. available only on the remote control and the front panel, marked Pure Direct does. And it's easy to listen to at lower volumes with a better overall sound. As a major vendor of musical instruments Yamaha had access to music venues around the world, and the acoustic data collected enabled the company to offer ready-made acoustics emulating these environments. The HK is a much smoother (IMO) sounding receiver and seems to do a better job on music with these speakers. Yamaha has not figured out that many of us prefer our subs to be active for 2 channel music, especially if we have smaller bookshelf.
Av receiver is getting a low volume and onkyo vs yamaha receiver pure direct mode. For 2 channel music Pioneer's 'direct' mode does the same thing as Yamaha's 'pure direct' but goes one step better by alllowing your sub to be active in direct mode providing your front speakers are set to small. I also found that when listening at lower volumes (like when my kids are in bed) the Yamaha felt weak in the lower and mid-range sounds. My music teacher was very much excellent building audio kits, Dynaco. The Yamaha is extremely clean and detailed and with a "warm" speaker arrangement, it may be your best bet.īut, I'm running all Klipsh speakers in my home theater using it about 75/25 home theater/music and I found the sound of the RX-V1500 becoming tiring after some time listening. Although the Yamaha has a number of excellent features, the Harman Kardon really shines on pure music. I spent the weekend with both the Yamaha RX-V1500 and the HK AVR-430. I also do not recommend Yamaha with Klipsch speakers as they can sound dry, a little sharp. I no longer recommend the Yamaha as I have heard much better in 2020-2021 for less or the same.
